The Magna Radio team swapped microphones for paddles at this year's Lincoln Dragon Boat Race, taking to the water as the Backstroke Boys and Girls in a colourful display of 90s fancy dress, all in support of the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.
Broadcasting live from the event throughout the day, Magna Radio brought listeners interviews with competitors, organisers and supporters, capturing the atmosphere from one of Lincoln's biggest fundraising events.
While the team's dragon boating ambitions may not have resulted in silverware, spirits certainly weren't dampened. The Backstroke Boys and Girls battled their way to a respectable 16th place out of 17 teams, proving that enthusiasm and laughter were just as important as speed.
The event raised vital funds and awareness for the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, a charity that remains close to Magna Radio's heart. The station has worked extensively with the charity over the past year, helping raise awareness of the lifesaving service it provides across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
Throughout the day, presenters spoke with teams, volunteers and spectators, highlighting the incredible community spirit that makes the annual Dragon Boat Race such a popular fixture in Lincoln's calendar.
Congratulations went to Lincoln Security, who were crowned the 2026 Lincoln Dragon Boat Race champions after a fantastic day's racing.
Tom Priestley, Founder of Magna Radio, said:
"What a brilliant day. It was fantastic to be part of such a fun event while supporting an incredible cause. We might not have troubled the leaders on the water, but there were plenty of smiles, plenty of laughs and, most importantly, the event helped raise money and awareness for the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance. That's what really matters."
The Magna team would like to thank everyone who stopped by to chat, took part in interviews and cheered on the Backstroke Boys and Girls throughout the day.
