East Lindsey tourism delivers record £994m economic impact in 2025
A new report has revealed that tourism generated an all-time high of almost £1 billion for the East Lindsey economy in 2025, with increases recorded across visitor numbers, visitor spend and tourism-supported jobs.
The latest STEAM (Scarborough Tourism Economic Activity Monitor) results show visitors to East Lindsey generated £994.48 million of economic impact during 2025, an increase of 13.8% on the previous year and the highest figure ever recorded for the district.
The report found that over 4.76 million people visited East Lindsey over the course of the year, a rise of 6.5% compared to 2024. Visitors enjoying an overnight stay increased significantly by 12.7% to 1.93 million, while day visitors also grew by 2.7% to 2.84 million.
An increase in visitors also led to an increase in local residents employed in tourism related work, with 6,814 jobs supported across the district, up 4.7% on the year before.
The positive results were mirrored across both of East Lindsey's key tourism destinations, the coast and Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape. The Wolds welcomed 3.62 million visitors and generated £281.96 million in economic impact, while the coast recorded 2.94 million visitors and £751.89 million in economic impact, both showing significant strong growth compared to 2024.
The results come as the council continues to strengthen its support for the visitor economy through its new Destination Management Plan, which sets out a shared vision and long-term strategy to grow tourism sustainably across East Lindsey and the rest of the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership sub-region.
The council has also announced further investment in tourism activities and events through the East Lindsey Investment Fund (ELIF), a £20m fund to improve life for everyone across the district, including by helping communities and organisations deliver projects that attract visitors and support local businesses.
