A major stretch of road through Wrawby is being resurfaced as part of North Lincolnshire Council’s continuing investment in the area’s roads.
Work starts on Monday, 5 October and will see the route through the village resurfaced in phases, covering Brigg Road and continuing along Melton Road towards the eastern edge of Wrawby.
The first phase, along Brigg Road, will be carried out under evening road closures between 6pm and midnight from Monday 5 to Friday 9 October, helping keep the route moving during the busiest parts of the day.
Work will begin at the Barton Road end and move through the village towards Vicarage Road, with the existing road surface removed before the new surface is laid.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council and ward councillor for Brigg and Wolds, said: “This is a major piece of work right through Wrawby and will make a real difference to a route used every day by residents living in the village – and the many others who travel along it.
“We’re investing in resurfacing roads across North Lincolnshire, and this is another significant stretch being tackled. This is a long-awaited scheme I know – there’s been loads of utility work which had to take place first and I am really pleased that has all been completed and we can crack on with this next job.
“We know this be a nightmare for loads of people during this time but and I wanted to apologise for this in advance – but we will have a much-improved road through the village for residents and other road users afterwards.”
From Monday 12 October, work will continue along Melton Road towards the eastern end of the village. This section will be completed using temporary traffic lights rather than a full road closure and is expected to finish by Friday 23 October.
The programme includes resurfacing, improvements around ironworks, new road markings and gully cleaning.
Cllr Neil Poole, cabinet member for roads, waste and flooding, said: “This isn’t a patching job. The existing surface will be removed and replaced across a substantial length of the route through Wrawby.
